Dear Cleveland First Baptist Church Family:
In light of current information and medical data and after consultation with your Pastors, Music Director, Financial Administrator, Chairperson of Deacons and Deacon Board, it has been concluded that in the best interest of the health of the church family of Cleveland First Baptist Church, to continue to meet “online only” through May 17. This means CFBC will not hold any in person activities on site, through May 17. (Continual evaluation will be ongoing.)
Our governor is striving to open up the activities of our state. While we can appreciate the optimism, your pastors and church leadership, urge caution and wisdom for the next few weeks. We are in a shelter-in-place order till the end of April with a recommendation that people who have weakened immune systems and those over the age of 65, remain sheltered-in-place until mid-May.
While these decisions are difficult, CFBC is also facing a unique set of challenges prior to a “reopen.” As your pastors and church leadership, we cannot allow the excitement of finally coming back together to cloud judgement or cause us to ignore the “new normal” that has been thrust upon our church. There are lots for us to think through before the church returns to the building.
We will continue to meet Live Online for worship on Sundays at 11:00 AM and for Prayer and Preaching Series - "Christ Crucified” on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. We are receiving many positive comments regarding these live streams. We continue to expand and enhance them each week. You can watch online (live or at a later time of your choice) by going to www.firstcleveland.com. Once on our website, select the media tab, and choose either YouTube or Facebook Live. If you have any issues viewing the services, please let Manning Minton or Dennis Turner know by calling 706-865-2933. They will be glad to assist you.
Your pastors and staff continue to work at the church, however, the church office remains closed to visitors. If you must come to the church to conduct any business, we ask you to do so from the service window at the office. Please do not enter the office area. We appreciate your understanding as we practice social distancing.
Ministering To Each Other
Our pastors and staff continue to minister, although it be from a distance. Phone calls, texts, and emails are the manner in which they are staying in touch with the congregation. If you need assistance with a spiritual matter or some other need, please call 706-865-2933 to speak directly with any staff member or email them through the church website, www.firstcleveland.com. You may also contact your Family Deacon. We encourage all our church family to stay in touch with one another, continue to pray, and demonstrate the love of Christ.
There are three ways that you can give the Lord’s tithe and your offerings. You may mail in your donation to Cleveland First Baptist Church, Post Office Box 250, Cleveland, Georgia 30528; drop it by the church office (we can meet you at the door.); or give online through the church website. Please contact Terry Goodger at 706-865-2933 if you have questions about online giving.
God is our Refuge and Strength
It is our hope and prayer that you are doing well and are healthy. You are loved and we miss seeing you as we long for the day when we can once again worship and fellowship together in person. We are praying for you and yours and ask that you pray for your church family too!
Never forget who our God is. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble… “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (Psalm 46:1, 10-11).
